The promise
Sayward is a private journaling and conversation-preparation tool. If you use it with a partner, private material is not shown to them. Material you mark for a shared meeting stays hidden until both people arrive.
What is not shown to a partner
The raw text of a Felt Moment, its AI drafting conversation, private patterns, and anything you keep private are not shown to a partner. At a shared opening, a partner may see the appreciation and closeness answer you sealed, topics you chose to bring, and final Felt Moment wording you chose to share. Agreements and meeting receipts are joint records. A new partner cannot access an earlier chapter's private or joint history.
What the AI sees
Felt Moment drafting sends Anthropic the private event, current draft, and drafting conversation when you choose AI help. After a paired meeting is complete, a private week reflection runs only if both people independently opt in. Anthropic then receives both first names, each person’s closeness answer, labels each person selected about what they were carrying, final Felt Moment wording shared at the meeting, and whether meal or schedule answers differed—not written Prep answers, raw or private Moments, or draft conversations. Each person receives a separate private reflection. A solo reflection sends your weekly answers only after you press the named AI action. Topic help sends the topic and points you submit. Opening “What moves you” checks only whether you have enough final Felt Moment wording from separate weeks; it does not send those words to Anthropic. Pressing its named AI action sends that final wording from your current relationship chapter—not raw notes, draft conversations, or earlier chapters. Before an AI request is sent, Sayward’s server checks the submitted words for a limited set of possible self-harm, danger, coercion, or abuse phrases. If the words match, they are not sent to Anthropic or shared automatically. This word check is not a diagnosis or a determination about your situation.
Anthropic states that API content is not used to train its models and may retain API data for a limited safety-monitoring period under its API terms. AI output can be incomplete or wrong; review it before saving or sharing it. If you report an AI reflection, Sayward stores your account ID, where the text appeared, the AI model and prompt versions, and the reason you choose. The report does not include the AI text or your source words, and it is not sent to Anthropic.
AI runs only after a named action. It helps draft wording or an optional private reflection; it does not diagnose, assess your relationship or mental health, infer what a partner feels, or monitor your account in the background.
What we store
Your account details; weekly check-ins; Felt Moments and topics plus their sharing choices; final Felt Moment wording; joint agreements and meeting receipts; reports about AI output that exclude the AI text and source words; subscription status; and a non-content trial receipt. If you request beta access before creating an account, we store the name you optionally provide, your email address, the request status, and invitation timestamps so we can manage that request. Beta keys and browser access grants are stored only as one-way hashes. We don't sell your data, and we don't use your relationship content to train AI models.
Encryption and access
When field encryption is enabled, selected sensitive writing is encrypted in the database while stored. Sayward decrypts it when needed to serve an authorized account or perform an AI action. Identity, purchase, selected-state, and operational metadata are not all field-encrypted.
What we let go
When a shared Felt Moment is revealed, its raw text and AI drafting conversation are deleted; the final wording you approved remains. An unshared moment remains stored as private account content until it or the account is deleted.
Deletion
Deleting your account in Settings permanently removes the account and your private or authored content, and ends your access. Joint meeting and agreement receipts may remain available to another original participant. To keep account deletion from resetting the two-use trial, Sayward retains a narrow receipt: the former numeric account ID, meeting week and completion time, and a keyed one-way code derived from the normalized email. The receipt contains no relationship writing or plaintext email, but the code can match a later registration using the same email. Deletion cannot be undone.
A beta-access request exists before and separately from a Sayward account, so deleting an account does not automatically delete that request. Email privacy@sayward.app to withdraw a request or delete its contact information.
